Information/Frequently Asked Questions
Product Description
All our doors are hand-crafted from solid vertical grain cut, clear western red cedar. At Mountain View Woodworks we pride ourselves handcrafting high quality 100% wood products. We never use any veneers in any of our solid wood screen doors. Each piece of lumber used in our creations is hand chosen by our craftsman and milled to perfection. We mill all of our lumber on site, allowing just the right amount of drying time in between cuts. Unlike other composite materials, wood has a sophisticated, unique quality that brings unparalleled texture, depth, and beauty to your home. When finished and properly maintained, solid wood is an extremely durable choice and will resist the elements for years to come.

Door Finish
Your new artisan wood door has been handcrafted to last for years to come. Like any piece of fine furniture it requires proper finish and periodic maintenance to ensure it always performs at its best. At Mountain View Woodworks we offer you a choice of ordering your door unfinished, or finished with Penefin, or Green Finish (coming soon). Penefin is a Brazilian Rosewood Oil with UV protection. It darkens the wood slightly and brings out the grain variations and patterns in the wood. All photos of the doors on our web site are shown finished with Penefin. If you choose to order your door unfinished, we reccommend that you seal and finish your door within 1-2 weeks after delivery. Unsealed and unfinished doors must be stored in a warm and dry moisture free environment. Untreated doors will crack and warp if exposed to the elements. Leaving doors untreated or incompletely finished and subject to these elements and environments will void any warranty on our products.
Screen & Screen Frame
Our standard screen material is made of fiberglass and is charcoal in color. Screen material is easily replaced if damaged. We also offer pet screen, which is heavy screen durable enough that it can't be damaged by your pets. All screen material is mounted into an aluminum screen frame.
Hardware
Door pulls, handles, hinges, surface bolt and ball catch are not included with the door. We offer a few carefully selected quality hinges and handles. Check our Hardware page to see the door hardware offered by Mountain View Woodworks.
